Introduction to GRIHA green building guidelines

As a segment of sustainable and green building design. Today we will be discussing about GRIHA. GRIHA means green rating for integrated habitat assessment. It is a similar rating like LEED, GE3S provides training on GRIHA guidelines as well as for LEED Green Associate Exam. Now there are various rating systems for rating building as green depending upon different criteria they choose. For eg:  UK follows BREEAM which is building research establishment in the environmental assessment method, Japan follows CASBEE, and Australia follows Green Star and Germany has a passive voice. Some of the European countries also follow passive voice. In this context, India also needs a rating system of its own and that is what GRIHA Council. GRIHA means green rating for integrated habitat assessment. There is also LEED INDIA which can be used as a Green building rating system in the Indian context. GRIHA has been developed by TERI the energy research institute New Delhi and developed jointly with the ministry of new and renewable energy government of India. A year after launch of GRI standards - Where do we stand?

GRI replaced the old G4 Guidelines with the latest GRI standards on October 19th, 2016, developed through multi-stakeholder processes.  There were 28 launch events spanning across 25 counties.  The events were all held between October 2016 and September 2017, bringing together  Sustainability reporting consultant ,  Environmental Consultant , and other professionals within this field.  A majority of the professionals who attended the events said the standards will help support and improve the quality of reporting.  More than 150 organizations have joined the Standards Pioneer program, showing their support to the GRI Standards and future of sustainability disclosure.
